Apples come into their own at this time of year making them the ideal ingredient for your hearty, autumnal puddings. This crisp recipe is a slight twist on an apple crumble that we all know and love, so therefore *must* be served with ice cream or custard (or both...).
Ingredients
3 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tbsp sugar
Crisp topping
120g cup rolled oats
60g flour
60g walnuts, chopped
60g pecans, chopped
60ml maple syrup
30g butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp salt
Method
Preheat your oven to 180°. Then prepare your apples; peel, core and slice each one, place them into a baking dish and sprinkle them with cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar.
Separately in a large bowl, combine all of the crisp ingredients and mix together with a spoon until well combined.
Cover the prepared apples with the crisp mixture, evenly distributing the oaty mix.
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes and then, uncover and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the apples have softened.
Serve with ice cream, cream or custard and enjoy!
